What Does a Home Inspector Look For?

A professional home inspector gives you an independent, unbiased view of any problems with a home. This is important because you want to have all the facts, so you can make a sound, informed decision.

Depending on the size and condition of the home, a thorough home inspector will take several hours investigating a home. Larger and older homes usually take longer. Ideally, you will accompany your inspector during the consultation, so that you will have visual reinforcement of your written report.

Every home inspection is a complete and detailed analysis of all the major systems and components in the home. The report includes a clear description of our findings, including photos, and any problem areas noted, so you can easily identify areas that need to be addressed.

Below are examples of components we inspect.

Roof & Drainage

A Step Above Other Kansas City Home Inspection Companies

A roof might seem solid, but there could be problems developing that go completely undetected. Sagging between rafters or near ridges, broken or loose shingles, loose/missing/corroded flashing, just to name a few.

Fixing a roof can be the most expensive house repair a home owner may face, with a full replacement ranging from $2,000 to $12,000. If you are in the market for a new home, then you need to have the roof inspected by an experienced & thorough inspector.

Our Top Priority is the Safety of Our Customers

One of the least understood but very important parts of a home inspection is verifying that the electrical system is safe. Poor electrical workmanship is one of the more common problems found during inspections. There are more than 165,000 electrical-related home fires in any given year.

Direct Inspections makes it a priority to ensure the system is fully functional and more importantly, it’s safe for the occupants.

Discover Problems Before They Become Serious

Leaks can pop up in plenty of places around the home, causing costly problems, not to mention the health risks. Not only do we inspect the type and condition of the water supply piping, we also inspect all exterior and interior plumbing fixtures for flow, leaks, and that they are connected properly.

Depending on the age of the home, it is important that the main sewer line is inspected. Deteriorating sewer lines can create a variety of expensive problems such as, clogs and collapsed lines.

Home Inspectors That Understand Structural Framework

Every home is unique. As a result, each foundation is distinctly different. For example, the effects of soil movement to a concrete foundation will be distinctively different than a stone or brick foundation. Our home inspectors understand these key differences which is crucial during a home inspection.

In addition, our home inspectors identify weakness that will affect structural components in the future. We don’t just identify problems, we educate our customers.  As a result, they understand what can affect a home’s structural integrity. Above all, how to protect it.
